Spirit Island

Maligne Lake, the second largest glacierfed lake in the world, lies in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. At its centre, aptly-named Spirit Island imparts an almost ghostly quality to the icy waters. Inspired to capture my own vision of the magical scene on film, and with the encouragement of a well-known Canadian photographer who was living in Jasper at the time, I waited until after sunset before focusing my composition. The radiant alpenglow reflections and tranquil moon only intensify the enchantment of this unforgettable view.
